Account: Your email address and a scrambled PIN hash — never your actual PIN in plain text.
Family profiles: Names, nicknames, dates of birth, photos, interests, cultural background, and gift history — all entered by you.
We do not collect payment information, device location, or advertising identifiers.
We never use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
Your data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore (Australia Southeast region), which is protected by Google's enterprise-grade security.
AI gift suggestions are processed via a secure Cloudflare Worker proxy — your data is not stored by the AI provider.
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties, except:
· Google Firebase — for secure cloud storage and authentication
· Cloudflare — for secure AI request processing
· Anthropic — AI suggestions are processed but not stored
Cherish displays gift suggestions with links to NZ and Australian retailers. We may earn a small commission if you purchase through these links, at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep Cherish free for everyone.
NZ residents have rights under the Privacy Act 2020. Australian residents have rights under the Privacy Act 1988.
Cherish is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of Cherish after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
